Alcaraz set to defend Tokyo title in 2026
Carlos Alcaraz will be back to defend his title at the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo in 2026, the tournament has confirmed.
The No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings triumphed on his debut at the ATP 500 event last year, when he dropped just one set en route to the title and defeated Taylor Fritz in the final. It was one of a Tour-leading eight trophies Alcaraz won in 2025.

The 22-year-old Alcaraz has begun his 2026 season in emphatic fashion, winning consecutive titles at the Australian Open and at the ATP 500 in Doha. With his first title in Melbourne, the Spaniard became the youngest man to complete the Career Grand Slam.
With his win in Tokyo last year, Alcaraz joined fellow ATP No. 1 Club members Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic as winners of the ATP 500 event.
Alcaraz owns a 12-0 record in 2026, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, and is more than 3,000 points clear of rival and World No. 2 Jannik Sinner atop the PIF ATP Rankings.
